Transtec co-sponsoring the 1st International Conference on Translation and Localization

TRANSTEC for Translation and Localization is sponsoring the 1st International Conference on “Recent Trends in Translation Technology”. The conference debuts at Misr International University (MIU) on April 6th and 7th, 2019.

At this one-of-a-kind conference on translation and localization, TRANSTEC gives experts local and global insight. Moreover, that insight covers exactly where translation technology stands today. Two full days tackle several interesting topics. Furthermore, all of them address new trends in translation technology, through research papers, presentations, workshops and discussion panels.

What makes that conference stand out is its source material. Academics and market leaders from international, regional and local spheres submit all the topics. Dr. Laila Rizk, Dean of the Faculty of Al Alsun and Mass Communication, holds the auspices.

Keynote Speakers

In addition, the conference hosts two academic keynote speakers. They are Mikel L. Forcada from Universitat d’Alacant in Spain, and Lynne Bowker from the University of Ottawa in Canada. From the business sector, the conference welcomes Dr. Julian Zapata, Founder and President of InTr Technologies. He holds a Ph.D. in translation from the University of Ottawa in Canada. Similarly, Dr. Mohamed-Ali Ibrahim, Middle East Manager of the Austrian Standard Institute, joins the line-up. He will highlight the International Standards in the Translation Industry. Regional academic institutions take part as well. For example, King Saud University sends Ibrahim Al-Qarni and Mohammad Al-Jabali.

Conference Programme

The first day brings a remarkable discussion panel on “What does the translation market want?” runs from 4:30 – 5:45 and gathers market leaders from high-profile corporates. Among them, Mr. Ahmad Mutamad, CEO of TRANSTEC, shares insights on the skills the market needs today. He will focus on what it takes to excel in the current translation market. The panel also includes Ms. Manal Amin, CEO of Arabize, Eng. Wafaa Mohiy, Director of Saudi Soft, Dr. Nadia El Gewely from Reuters, and Dr. Julian Zapata from InTr Technologies, Canada. Mr. Sameh Al-Sharqawi, ISO 17100 Lead Auditor and Certified TSP, chairs the session.
